A general practitioner is also called a family doctor and most of the time patients seek their medical help regularly.  A general practitioner will issue a proper diagnosis whenever a patient comes to seek medical aid while experiencing a serious health complication or a cold.

When a patient goes to a hospital seeking medical assistance, the first person they have to see is the GP who will then refer them to a specialist. But before referring a patient to a specialist, let’s say a patient comes with an injury; the General Practitioner first diagnoses the patient and then refers him/her to a specialist.

General practitioners have no specialty area; however, they have the ability to give a patient primary care.
