At REEMA TALKS we received a request from our beloved readers to explain and teach out the perfect way to USE the beauty blenders, and we thought why not give our readers a perfect food for thought and here we are.
Once you have chosen the correct foundation, comes the application. Your base should be well blended. It should cover the unevenness of the skin. In order to achieve this, you need to have the right tools.
We have been using brushes and sponges for applying make-up and foundations. Yet! Something was missing. The artists like me have been in search of a product that is easy to use and leads to perfection. I like to play with the makeup and try to do more creations and beauty blender gave me an entire range of thoughts to ensure to deliver excellence to my customers.
And here we have now. The Beauty Blender.
Old Ways of Applying Foundation:
Till now we have been using the following methods to apply our bases:
- Finger tips
Finger Tip Application:
It is very easy to apply foundation with your fingertips. You get the right coverage, the right quantity and the right strokes. Just take the product on your finger tip and start!
However, have you thought about the bacteria you are transferring to your skin from your hands?
Also, you need to be choosy on what kind of foundation you are using. You cannot use a powder or think cream foundation with bare hands. There are also chances that you will be re-doing it multiple times before you reach the height of perfection. The even coverage is also not guaranteed.
While using a brush you will apply the product on your face and then blend it with the brush. The other way of doing it is applying the product on the brush and streaking. With this method you would be streaking and streaking to get it right. This can be frustrating and time consuming. And, let’s face it TIME IS MONEY.
You will also have to be choosy with your foundation type. The runny foundations are not recommended for brushes.
With foundation brushes you will need a whole collection. Every brush does its part only. You will need separate brush for application, a separate one for blending and yet another one for contouring. My God, this is not for ladies who are always on the GO!!
A man has to look his best yet, people in the West defame men for making the effort. If you take too much time in self-care elements, you get the compliment of being a woman. Taking good care of yourself is not limited to ladies only. Pedro Lopes Dias, an expert at folsformen.com, which is a skincare and lifestyle brand made by men for men, says “Men shouldn’t be ashamed of using moisturizers or any other skin care products. In today’s society, taking care of yourself is seen as a “woman only thing”, which leads to lots of skin-related problems in men, like skin cancer, eczema, acne, etc.”
You need to have a lot of patience with brushes for sure!
The question is, how to get the desired results. Yes! We recommend the newest method called the beauty blender.
What is a Beauty Blender?
A Beauty Blender is a makeup sponge that is used to apply and blend not only the creamy products, such as a liquid foundation, a face cream or a highlighter but also the powder forms.
It is available in several different colors, shapes and sizes, but the feeling is the same on all the mushrooms.
The idea behind it is, that it will help in the application in order to get as perfect results as possible.
It also absorbs excess products and makes sure your skin gets just the right amount of the product. For more smoother, better and long lasting effect, you just need to know the usage of the correct mushroom.
Beauty Blender is a new trend in make-up that is created to fix your makeup without getting visible lines or streaks from your foundation. It gives you a smoother more natural looking foundation base. It blends the product on your skin rather than just laying the foundation on the top of your skin.
The sponge is shaped like a drop so it reaches with precision around the eyes and nose. It targets the areas that might otherwise be difficult to access with a broad brush or applicator.
Another reason for the shape is that different areas of the sponger offer different functions. This can be your all in one makeup applicator. Or it can be a blending aid for your traditional make up tools.
Beauty Blender was first developed by Rea Ann Silva, Hollywood’s successful makeup artist and it shows that it is developed by an expert. Later it got added with more features to improve its quality and usage.

Why beauty blender is so great to have?
No one needs a “Cakey” look with their make-up. At the end of the day all the ladies out there want, is, a picture perfect face. The idea is to get a flawless natural looking skin. A well balanced foundation is all you require.
For that try to select a sponge that is latex free and soft textured. No matter how well you use a brush, you will just end up in scrubbing it against your skin, this is what we DONOT recommend.
The beauty blender helps the product to go in your pores. This is excellent for skin that has scars or Acne since it fills the odds well. With brushes the Acne areas seems more popped up and shows the dry patches.
You can also use the beauty blender to apply bronzers or powder. With the brush you may be just brushing the powder away and removing some parts of your foundation base. Whereas the beauty blender compresses it on your foundation. This not only makes your skin healthy looking but also your make-up standing out.

How to practice a Beauty Blender?
Moisture-in to do the key to success:
An important fact, which many miss while using a beauty blender is that you have to moisten it before you use it. This makes it a soft sponge and easy to play with during make-up. It is simply done by flushing cold water on it and then squeezing out the water.
You can squeeze out the extra moisture on a towel also because it should not be too wet. When it becomes damp, it grows almost twice its size and makes it much more manageable on the skin.
Since it already absorbed the water when wet, it does not soak up lots of your foundation, moisturizer, or whatever it may be that you apply.
Suit your Essentials:
How and what you apply with this Beauty Blender is very individual. You can apply, for example, your foundation with a foundation brush first and then use the sponge to work the product.
You can also apply your foundation right from the start with the Beauty Blender. The idea is that you should use makeup sponge to work the product into the skin. Do so by dabbing it in around your face, covering all areas.
The trick is to bounce and twist!
You may also dab on the foundation to apply another layer for perfection. You do not have to wet the sponge again and again. Just do it once before you start applying your make-up and will be enough.
Create the perfect Look!
Step 1 – Apply the Primer:
In order to create the perfect look, use your beauty blender Pure to apply your primer. Just spread your primer over the broad base of the sponge and apply.
Step 2 – Apply Foundation:

Step 3 – Contouring:
Complete your foundation look by using the mini or the pro blender sponge for contouring. Apply your favorite concealer under eye and smudge it with the beauty blender Mini.
Also, you can use stick or cream contours. Sketch the contouring and using the Beauty Blender Mini or the original single, later bounce it outwards. Highlight using the same method if necessary.
Step 4 – Apply Blush:
By using the single, you can also apply your blush by using its thin side. Select one of the most trending colours of blushes specially created by our experts to suit your look.

Step 4 – Smear Eye shades:
Use the pointed end of your beauty blender for smearing eye shadows. Applying a single colour is very easy with a beauty blender however, you can also use it to apply multiple shades and blend them for a final look.
Step – 5 Put on the Lip Stain:
You did not believe it when you saw this, did you??
Why leave lips?
No make-up is complete without a shiny lip colour. If you have a lovely lip stain that you feel is too dark. Use the beauty blender to apply your lip stain to get the lighter shade.
Darken as desired by multiplying applications and adding layers… Intelligent, isn’t it?
Do I need all sponges?
No, YOU don’t, a single beauty blender is more than enough to do all the trades. It can paint, contour, shade and do lip stain.

When to replace your beauty blender?
Due to hygiene reasons, it is advised to replace your beauty blender after every 3 months. However, it is entirely dependent on your usage and maintenance. They can last more than a year if cared for and washed properly. However, we can suggest certain signs that indicate its now time to replace them.
3 Months’ Time Period: A general recommended time period for any replacement is 3 months. But as suggested earlier, it differs individually on your usage and care. My clients usually ask my advice on the replacement of any make-up product and this what I counsel them, so that we can ALWAYS be sure about the skin care and hygiene.
You notice skin issues for no obvious reasons: There are many reasons for breaking out and Acne. However, if you have not changed your skin care routine and still face issues, it may be because you are not cleaning your sponge properly. Bacteria and Gunk built up in your sponge and cause skin problems.
You see Destruction: If you see your product deteriorating or de-forming, you know it’s time to change. The product life cycle is complete. A
Miss-angled egg will not give you desired results if it has been de-formed. Cracks and slits are home for germs. Stop using your sponges immediately if you see breaks and cracks.
The product is discolored: If you notice that your product is fading out or does not come to its original colour even after a wash. It is a DEFINATE time to change.
Beauty Blender for hair:
Why would you throw away your old beauty blenders? If you think you have used it enough and it’s time to get a new one, do not throw the old ones away.
Think outside the box and use your blender on your hair to add color or highlight. It provides precision and accurate highlights without overdoing the product. You can read our next blog on this only at your REEMA TALKS.
How to wash a Beauty Blender?
It is essential that you DO wash your beauty blender after every use.
Following methods can be advised:
Using a detergent:
Use a normal hand wash, ecological detergent or a mild shampoo to wash your sponge. Don’t be too harsh on the soft sponge as they tend to crack easily.
Apply a good amount of liquid detergent on the sponge and squeeze. Do not rub the sponge. It is fragile and there are chances you will break it by being too harsh.
The Blender Cleanser:
The easiest way to wash and clean the Beauty Blender is to use an associated Blender Cleanser. It is available in the market with two versions, one that is in liquid form, Liquid Blender Cleanser. It looks much like a soap or a shampoo. But my favorite is the one called, Blender Cleanser Solid.
It is a small compact soap that comes in a round plastic wrapping. This is super easy to use and effectively removes dirt and makeup from the sponge. You only have to wet the Beauty Blender and then spin around it in the can with a soap, squeeze out the water and repeat, only if necessary.
It is highly recommended to clean the sponge between the SMEARS as dirt, bacteria and makeup can easily be stored inside. These bacterium cause skin diseases and Acne.
Contact us for expert advice on skin to avoid break outs and Acne.
It is a soap, especially adapted to these products. The soap smells really good (unlike many other cleaning products). It’s a lavender fragrance.
The mushrooms gets clean and sterile when you wash them. The fresh fragrance also gets rid of the cosmetic odor on your sponge. You get a new fragranced sponge every time you do the make-up.
How to dry your sponge:
It is important to dry your beauty blender properly. Once you have washed the beauty blender, make sure you leave it on a dry surface in an airy place to dry. Do not enclose it in a jar or its own packing. Let it breathe and dry naturally. However, be sure to cover it back in its packing once completely dry.
How to get stains off your beauty blender?
It is very normal to get cosmetic stains on your beauty blender.
At REEMA TALKS, we not only help you to choose the correct product but want to ensure that your skin and related products are well cared for. If you get stains on your sponge, we recommend cleaning it with a two product mixture:
- Pure castile soap (some clients have sworn, by, has the effects of a dish wash)
- Oil – there is a variety you can choose from any in the market. You can also use tea tree oil for its antibacterial agents. Try using fragranced oils like lavender, which is my favorite.
The Don’ts of your Beauty Blender:
Beauty Blender is a good investment towards your picture perfect look. Though, there are certain ways you can ruin your investment.
Here is how:
- Do not use your beauty blender dry. It will only cause friction against your skin when dry. Wet and plump your sponge before every routine.
- Choose your colour wisely: Every Beauty blender, which is in the range, serves a different purpose. Although, the beloved signature pink sponge works wonders with just about any product, but if you’re constantly using dark foundations, bronzers, and self-tanner you’ll want to invest in the black Beauty Blender Pro. The dark color is less prone to stains as opposed to the lighter foundation tones. To get the most out of your skincare, choose the white option as it was made specifically for serums and moisturizers.
- Do not rub the beauty blender on your skin. The reason of switching from brushes to sponges is to get rid of the streaks and lines of the product on your face. When you rub the Beauty Blender against your face, you create the same effect. The trick is to dab it so it deposits the foundation on your skin like a PRO.
IMAGE BEAUTY BLENDER 47
- Handle with Care: Be gentle with your Beauty Blender. Do not rub it or try to tear it apart while washing or applying the product. A gentle squeeze and light twisting will do your job well.
- Keep the packing: Every Beauty Blender comes with its packing. It is meant to be stored in that packing. Dry the sponge well and return it to its original packing. Do not leave it open. This way it catches germs and may get over-dry.
- Use mild cleaners: You may decide not to wash your Beauty Blender with a special sponge cleaner. In this case, wash it with a mild and non-toxic chemical. Avoid products that contain a lot of alcohol or acetone. These products may react with your skin and cause irritation in your next usage.
Finishes and Sessions:
We think that the Beauty Blender is a great alternative to brushes, especially if you want a makeup that looks more fluid out and natural rather than crisp with clear lines. Anyone who has tested a Beauty Blender and has experienced its results will understand why people all over the world cannot DO without it. When you go with Beauty Blender you never go back!
