This vitamin is responsible for keeping your immune system, skin, and eyesight in mint condition. But aside from this, you will already know that carrots can be eaten raw, and used as a key ingredient in stews, soups, and roasts!

The good news is that carrots don’t need special care to thrive other than ensuring that the soil they are planted has a maintained moisture content level. This, in fact, is easier to do indoors if you get a lot of rain outdoors! So as long as you’ve got the right size pot for the carrot variety that you’ve chosen, and a window that gets the plants adequate sunlight, you’re all set to harvest carrots that will rival those available at any supermarket produce section.

Tomatoes

You may think that you need outdoor soil and irrigation to grow tomatoes properly, and ideally, that would be recommended – but if not possible, you can also grow them in small pots, so long as they can be placed close to a window that gets them enough sunlight.

Salad Greens

The good thing is that salad greens don’t require a lot of warmth to grow – so you can grow them indoors in the winter months, sheltered from the cold outside, so long as you are able to provide them with some sunlight on a daily basis. If there is a dearth of even that in the winter, you can use artificial growing lights instead.

Salad plants can be harvested every few weeks, with new ones being planted in their place, to get a continuous supply of fresh greens for your dishes throughout the winters

Lemons

The lemon plant is pleasant to look at and the fruit it bears has a sharp, citrus taste that can inject zest into any dish it is included in (or sprinkled on!). The roots of the lemon plant need to be planted in a large pot to allow them to spread so that the plant can grow in a healthy manner. Since the plant requires moist soil to grow in, you will need to water and fertilize the plant regularly.

Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C, an antioxidant whose advantages have been discussed at length above. Besides this, lemon also contains a plethora of minerals including calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, and phosphorus, all of which combine to give it its distinct taste. Not only will your indoor lemon tree provide you with the means to make delicious, refreshing lemonade to sustain you in the summer, it will also fill the room with a sweet fragrance.

Note that certain varieties of lemons can sprout thorns, which may hurt your hands when you’re manually trimming the plant’s branches.
